On the eve of the Dronten Foal Auction, on Friday, September 12 at Hippisch Centrum Flevodrome, the organizers are very enthusiastic about the collection to be offered. “Especially among the show jumping foals, there is a great deal of sport in the dam lines, even more than in other years,” says Coen van Zanten, who formed the selection committee together with Jan Wybe Schurer and Thom Siemerink. “There are some very interesting and beautiful foals among them.”
Auction topper cat. No. 52 Vainqueur Héroïque (Vino Tinto x Gribaldi)

Top lot to Dressage Stable van Baalen.
“After the break it was fantastic; before the break, bidding was still cautious. You could see that with the numbers one and two, which were auctioned again after the break and fetched double the price. The reason for that is a mystery. What is certain is that buyers are willing to pay a lot of money for good foals,” said organizer Coen van Zanten, who noted a clear recovery of the market. The average price of the 49 auctioned fossils came in at 5,890 euros.

The powerful auction topper, moving with great suppleness and balance, has the Westphalian and Oldenburg-approved stallion Vino Tinto as his sire and is out of the elite mare Vito Héroique (Gribaldi x Havidoff). She is a half-sister to Gracia Héroique (by Vivaldi), the dam of the stable One to Remember, who was also once auctioned in Dronten. Bidding was fierce both online and in the hall. The online bid was won, and Vainqueur Héroique was purchased by dressage stable Van Baalen from Brakel.

Most expensive show jumping foal to China.
A delegation from China was represented by a Dutch intermediary. They bought four foals, including the daughter of Ermitage Kalone: Valenchide DN. At 12,000 euros, colt Visibilliity (Obsession Taonga x Lennox) certainly held his own as well.

The interestingly bred show jumping foals also proved popular, with 9,000 euros for Vida Loca RKJ (On the Spot x Chacco Blue), and 8,000 euros for Vambucci SV (by Sambucci de Muze), Velvet SF (Mr Cornet de Regor), Velentino Rossi T (by Boston VDL), and Valdo (by Chacfly). The latter will be moving to a stable in Germany.

A smooth-running auction and a great atmosphere remain a thrill.
“Before the break, four foals were bought back, but after the break, everything sold easily. After last year, we wondered if we should continue. Of course, there is a significant cost involved, but everything ran smoothly again with a great atmosphere, and that is a real thrill for us as an organization. All week we hear that with this accommodation and setup, we could make much more of it in a week like this, but we are already running on fumes, and whatever you do, you have to do it right,” says an enthusiastic Van Zanten, who indicates that there will certainly be another Equestrian week Dronten next year.

Harrie Wiering gives everything for victory in GP at Outdoor Dronten

The Dronten Equestrian Week got off to a magnificent start today (Sunday) with the national show jumping competition at Outdoor Dronten. Victory in the Horse2fly 1.40-meter Grand Prix went to Harrie Wiering, who, by his own account, gave it his all with his Harley. That was certainly necessary, as the competition was cutthroat, with two approved stallions, Don Tarpania Z and Mr Cornet de Regor, in pursuit.
